Native to North America and Asia, crabapples are grown for their spring flower display, and decorative, tasty fruit. The crabapple fruit is actually in the same genus as the standard orchard apple, though it isn’t as large (or pretty), not to mention that it is also tarter. In addition, it makes an amazing addition to cider as it gives it a delicious and unique flavor. This fruit is also high in pectin, which can help stabilize blood sugar, protect against colon cancer, and even lower cholesterol when added to a healthy diet.
