Description

Native to North America, cranberries are edible deep red fruits with an acidic taste that usually overwhelms their sweetness. Since fresh cranberries are hard, sour, and bitter, about 95% of them are processed and used to make cranberry juice and sauce. Besides, they are usually cooked into a compote or jelly, known as cranberry sauce. Raw cranberries supply moderate levels of vitamin C, dietary fiber, and the essential dietary mineral, manganese. When you feel the sniffles coming on, you might reach for a cup of these red beauties to load up on vitamin C and give your immune system a boost.
