The longan is believed to originate from the mountain range between Myanmar and southern China. Ranging in size from an olive to a small plum, Longan fruits have a thin rough-to-prickly brown easy to remove shell covering their grayish-white translucent, juicy pulp. In addition, the flavor of this fruit is wonderfully sweet and is often described as a mysterious tasting blend of musk, spruce and gardenia. As a matter of fact, longan is an excellent source of potassium and vitamin C, and is very, very low in sodium. This fruit also contains anti-aging properties, improves skin health, nourishes the blood, increases circulation, and enhances memory
