The Tasmanian pepperberry was mentioned in an 1889 book on the native plants of Australia titled “The Useful Native Plants of Australia.” As a matter of fact, these pepperberries were originally used for their antiseptic properties and their flavoring. Besides, people with sore gums would chew on them for some relief to their mouths. Others would enjoy adding them to their delicious dishes, considering there is a delicious depth to the flavor of these little black pepperberries. Furthermore, Tasmanian pepperberries have antioxidants and antimicrobial properties and are also a good source of vitamin C.
