Description

Introduced in Taiwan in 17th Century, rose apples are neither roses, nor are they apples! As a matter of fact, they happen to be closely related to Guava instead. The Rose apple fruit is bell-shaped and waxy looking with colors ranging from red, pink, green, white, purple, or crimson. Besides, it is an excellent fruit known for its crisp texture, mild flavor and refreshing qualities. Its flavor is actually reminiscent of a pear with a hint of rosewater and cinnamon. As for the health benefits of rose apples, they include their ability to detoxify the liver, improve digestion, protect against diabetes, boost the immune system, lower cholesterol, prevent cancer, eliminate fungal and bacterial infections, reduce fevers, and prevent epileptic seizures.
