Description

Although no archeological records are available to help determine their early history and domestication, radishes are still considered one of the most ancient cultivated plants. Besides, these root veggies are mighty nutritious. For one, they have anti-congestive properties, which help clear the mucus from your throat and respiratory tract. So, instead of reaching for a decongestant that'll make you sleepy, indulge in some radishes! Although this entire plant is edible, the napiform taproot is the most commonly eaten portion. It is usually eaten raw, although tougher specimens can be steamed. As for the raw flesh, it has a crisp texture and a pungent, peppery flavor that makes radishes quite suitable for salads and for many European dishes as well.
