Native to New Guinea, the winged bean is a tropical legume plant that grows as a vine with climbing stems and leaves, 3–4 m in height. Plus, the bean pod is typically 15–22 cm long and has four wings with frilly edges running lengthwise. These beans are actually sweet, like many pea varieties, and offer an asparagus-like flavor and crunchy texture. In addition, they are one of the finest sources of folates. It is worth noting that adequate folate in the diet around conception and during pregnancy may help prevent neural-tube defects in the newborn baby. Besides, winged beans contain a good amount of Vitamin C, which helps build immunity against infections, maintain blood vessel elasticity, and offer some protection against cancers
