Developed in India, the Kiran watermelon has a smooth, dark green and relatively thin outer rind with subtle dark green to black stripes running the length of the fruit. This fruit can be globular or oblong in shape, and has a vibrant pink to red flesh that is especially sweet and offers a slightly grainy texture. Like many watermelon varieties, the Kiran watermelon is renowned for its hydrating properties, comprised of nearly 90 percent water. It also contains vitamins A, C and B-complex group, iron, fiber and the amino acid Arginine which has been shown to boost metabolism.In addition, it contains rich supplies of potassium which helps prevent sore muscles and lycopene known for antioxidant benefits.
