Developed in the early 20th century, Elephant plums have earned the moniker "King of Japanese plums" due to their generous size and floral and sweet flavor. Besides, their name is a direct reference not only to their shape, but also to their heft and coloring. Nutrition-wise, Elephant Heart plums are an excellent source of vitamins A, C and K. Their deep purple skins are also a rich supply of antioxidants and dietary fiber, which in turn may be partly responsible for these fruits' effects on blood sugar.
