Native to the coastal areas of eastern Brazil , the Lemon guava is distinguished by its lime green skin that develops a golden yellow color when mature. Besides, this guava has a jelly-like inner flesh that offers a fragrant aroma and lemon-guava like flavor. Nutritionally, this variety contains a high amount of vitamin A and folate. It also contains vitamins C; most of which is actually in the skin, and B-complex vitamins, which in turn are important for women who are pregnant and breastfeeding. As a matter of fact, these vitamins aid in fetal brain development as well as reduce the risk of birth defects.
