The Suncrisp is actually a modern invention, considering it was released in 1994. It is medium in size with a large top tapering down to a rounder bottom. The apple's skin is chewy and often russetted, whereas its flesh is cream-colored and resists browning when cut open, not to mention that it has a starchy and somewhat juicy texture. Suncrisp has a fairly intense flavor that is sub-acidic, yet sweet. All apples, including this variety, contain many vital nutrients. The dietary fiber in them protects against cardiovascular disease and keeps the digestive system healthy. Besides, apples also contain other important nutrients such as Vitamin C and potassium. Suncrisps are best for fresh eating, but can also be used for cooking and baking. They are indeed very good storage apples, able to last up to six months if stored in proper cool, dry conditions. In fact, they taste much better after several weeks or even months in storage.
