Description

The Reed avocado was patented around 1960 in Carlsbad, CA, and was believed to be a chance crossing of two Guatemalan-type avocado varieties. It is actually one of the largest known varieties of avocado, as it can easily weigh more than 500 grams. Besides, the texture of its flesh is buttery with a rich and nutty flavor. Plus, the Reed avocado provides many essential nutrients, including fiber, potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins, and folic acid. In addition, its extracts can significantly reduce symptoms of osteoarthritis.
