Pei breadfruit is a broad-ellipsoidal, large fruit with a light-green rind and aromatic, sweet pulp. This breadfruit is versatile, thus it can be cooked and eaten at all stages of maturity. You can, for instance, pickle and marinate it, or use it instead of potatoes in many dishes. And given their exceptional sweetness, these breadfruits make an excellent addition in pies, cakes and other desserts. As a matter of fact, the medicinal purposes of Pei breadfruits are being actively researched, but one thing’s for sure – They are high in complex carbohydrates, low in fat and cholesterol, and are gluten-free. Besides, like other breadfruit varieties, they contain relatively high amounts of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, which are vital for the proper development of the mind and body.
