Native to Brazil, the Cape ground cherry is a berry with smooth, waxy, orange-yellow skin and juicy pulp containing numerous small yellowish seeds. Nutrition-wise, these ground cherries contain polyphenols, carotenoids, fiber, protein, calcium, phosphorous, iron, potassium, thiamine, Vitamin A and Vitamin C, which in turn protects us against cold and flu and is thought to lower our blood pressure and protect us against Parkinson's disease.
