Discovered in 1990’s by citrus grower Tom Mullholland, Cutie tangerines are popular for their small size, considering they average 5 to 6 centimeters in diameter. Besides, they have a seedless, deep orange flesh that is juicy with a sweet flavor balanced with a bit of acidity. Nutritionally, these “Cuties” are in fact an excellent source of vitamins C and A, as well as dietary fiber. They are also a good source of potassium, calcium, and phosphorus. In addition, they are full of antioxidants as well, like beta-carotene, which in turn may help prevent exercise-induced asthma attacks.
