Description

Nanking cherries were cultivated for hundreds of years in Asia before being introduced to England in 1870, and then to the United States in 1882. These cherries are actually quite small, measuring one to 2 centimeters in diameter, not to mention that they have a shiny and smooth red skin that is halfway between pale and bright pink, along with a juicy pulp that is both sweet and tart. In addition, Nanking cherries contain rich amounts of vitamins A and C, as well as calcium and iron. Besides, they contain anthocyanin, which is the compound that gives cherries powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Furthermore, Nanking can also help lower uric acid levels in the blood, which can result in gout.
