Pacific crabapples have been growing wild since ancient times along the coast and west of the Cascade Mountains. They are small in size, round to oblong in shape and have a waxy, shiny skin that transforms from green to hues of pink, yellow, and purple-red when mature. As for the flesh, it is ivory, crisp, and firm with a sharp, tart flavor. Nutrition-wise, Pacific crabapples contain fiber, vitamin C, iron, potassium, and magnesium, which in turn helps lower blood pressure in people with elevated levels.
