Description

Developed by Albert Etter in the mid-1940s, Wickson is a larger crabapple variety with a skin that ranges in color from a dusty golden yellow to a striped, bright cherry red. Crabapples, including this variety, are used as a remedy for various digestive disorders. Ripe crabapples, for instance, are found to contain powerful digestive agents that facilitate digestion, while eating unripe fruits without the seeds can alleviate diarrhea and piles. Giving 30 to 60 grams of ripe crabapple pulp may also help treat stomach issues in children. As a matter of fact, Wickson apples are uncharacteristically sweet for a crabapple, with sugar content near 25%, yet they retain the renowned tartness of the variety.
