Description

Originated in the Mediterranean region, Black Mission is actually the most popular commercial variety of figs. These figs are extremely sweet (sometimes they even ooze a bit of syrup, which you should take as a very good sign when picking or buying them). Besides, despite their name, they aren't really black—more of an insanely deep blue-purple that is gorgeous in its own right. In addition, their insane sweetness makes them perfect for serving plain or with yogurt or tangy fresh cheese. It is worth noting that in some folk medicine traditions, figs are used to treat a variety of skin issues, such as eczema, vitiligo, and psoriasis. There haven't been any conclusive, scientific studies, but anecdotal evidence and preliminary research show promise
