Originated in the West Indies, White Grapefruit is most often commercially juiced, as it is the preferred variety for canned grapefruit juice, and is commonly served at restaurants and on airplanes. These amazing grapefruits have a bright yellow rind when ripe, are almost perfectly round and have a pale yellow flesh that is very sweet and juicy with contrasting bitter and sour notes. Nutrition-wise, White grapefruits contain high levels of vitamin C and potassium, as well as minerals like calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and copper. In addition, they are a good source of folate and dietary fiber as well as flavonoids, which in turn work as antioxidants in the body and also provide anti-inflammatory benefits.
