Kadota figs had been introduced to the New World through Mexico in 1560 and then to California in 1769. These figs are thick-skinned with a creamy amber color when ripe. Practically seedless, Kadotas are often canned and dried, although they tend to be less sweet than other fig varieties, which again, makes them perfect for cooking and baking. As a matter of fact, the fiber in figs helps reduce weight and is often recommended for obese people. However, their high-calorie count can also result in weight gain. A few figs are adequate to get the recommended amount of nutrients, so don’t overdo it!
