Description

Native to Africa and also known as “the white yam”, D.rotundata is the most important cultivated yam. The tuber is roughly cylindrical in shape, has a smooth, brown skin and a white, firm flesh. Besides, this thick-skinned tuber can be boiled, mashed, fried... etc. In Africa, for instance, D. rotundata types are used in large quantities for the preparation of 'fufu', which is a delicious Ghanaian dish made with mashed cassava & plantains and butter. Nutrition-wise, yams contain Vitamin A and Vitamin C and other minerals that work as anti-oxidants and help with the production of red blood cells. All these qualities improve the immune system and keep you healthy.
