'Sweet Lorane' was originally bred and released sometime in the early 1990's by Steve Soloman. This variety is indeed special because it boasts a great flavor - tasting almost like chickpeas when fresh. It is also excellent as a dry bean cooked in soups and stews. For their relatively small size, broad beans in general pack an incredible amount of nutrients. In particular, they’re rich in plant protein, folate and several other vitamins and minerals. They’re also loaded with soluble fiber that can aid digestion and lower cholesterol levels.
