Native to China, the Gosho persimmon is essentially a giant Fuyu. Besides, it is a non-astringent persimmon that is meant to be eaten crisp like an apple. As a matter of fact, the crispy flesh of a ripe Gosho fruit offers a pleasant, spicy, sweet flavor and is also tannin-free, with even higher sugar content than the traditional Fuyu. And as with most persimmon varieties, Goshos are a good source of fiber and vitamins A, C and E. Persimmons are also rich in beta-carotene which plays a role in lowering the risk of heart disease, lung cancer, and metabolic disease
