Ougon peaches are a rare Japanese peach because they are grown in just a few prefectures. Thus, they can be two to four times the price of a regular peach. These peaches have a bright, beautiful, deep yellow-orange hue with little to no red blush typical to common peaches. In addition, they are full-bodied fragrant fruits with thin skin and a juicy, soft yellow flesh that has mango-like notes. Ougon peaches are rich in antioxidants, Vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, manganese, iron and phosphorus. In fact, yellow-fleshed peaches are especially rich in vitamin A which prevents the development of night blindness and may help slow the age-related decline of your eyesight.
