The first Cara Cara orange was found naturally growing on a Washington navel orange tree in 1976 at Hacienda Cara Cara in Venezuela. As a matter of fact, this orange tastes sweeter than any given orange with flavors far more comparable to tangerines. Besides, Cara Cara is a good source for vitamin A, vitamin C, fiber, potassium and protein. This orange also contains a powerful antioxidant known as lycopene, which helps give it its gorgeous hue. It is worth noting that regular consumption of lycopene has been linked to a lower risk of heart disease, prostate cancer and macular degeneration
