As scientific research is historically limited regarding all persimmons, the ancestor of Tamopan persimmons, if it still exists in the wild, remains a mystery. This variety is distinguished by its pumpkin color which is tinged with bronze, not to mention that its flesh is succulent with a flavor reminiscent of mango, pear and date. Nutrition-wise, persimmons contain flavonoid antioxidants and tannins, which benefit heart health by reducing blood pressure, lowering inflammation and decreasing cholesterol levels.
