Description

Clovers are located in three main centers of diversity: Eurasia, South Africa, and the Americas. Basically, a clover is a herbaceous plant of the pea family that has dense, globular flower heads, and leaves that are typically three-lobed. Not only does this plant make a delicious snack for horses and cattle, but it can be used in your own daily life to enhance your dietary and health wishes. In fact, it can do more for your health than you might imagine! For one, some of the unique properties of clover include its ability to reduce inflammation throughout the body, particularly within the cardiovascular system. And if you consume its green leaves, you are much more likely to get a boost of vitamin C than if you were to consume it in the form of tea. In addition, clover contains an ingredient called coumarins, which have been shown to keep blood flowing smoothly while stimulating healthy circulation. Many traditional cultures use clover as part of herbal medicine, but you don’t need to go that extreme to find clover useful. Even people with the least alternative lifestyles can find a use for clover in the kitchen. The leaves of the white clover plant, for instance, are becoming a fashionable leafy green, much like kale. White clover leaves also make a great addition to salads and soups, and the flowers can be used to make an herbal tea.
