Grown in the Andes, Pearl lupin ranges in height from 0.5 to 2.8 meters. As for its pods, each one contains on average 2–3 seeds, but can have up to 9 seeds. This particular lupin is special because it contains 42% of protein and 18% fat in average. It is worth noting that having a high-protein breakfast may suppress appetite and reduce cravings. In addition, the high fat content of Pearl lupin has allowed commercial oil pressing. As a matter of fact, the seeds have been used since ancient times in soups, stews, salads and by themselves mixed with boiled corn.
