Brown Holland bell peppers have historically been grown in Holland, and they are basically a sweet pepper variety. Aside from the fact that bell peppers are an extremely rich source of Vitamin C, they are also a good source of Vitamin E, which is known to play a key role in keeping skin and hair looking youthful. In addition, Brown Holland bell peppers are distinguished by their unique coloring, as their skin develops a glossy rich mahogany brown tone once mature. Besides, they have a fruity sweet flavor due to the fruit's increased sugar content as they are harvested at their peak ripeness. Brown Hollands are often eaten raw and highlighted in a crudite or stuffed and roasted. They can also be stir-fried, cooked down and pureed into a sauce or added to soups, stews and casseroles. It is worth noting, though, that cooking will fade the pepper's mahogany coloring.
