Banana squashes were introduced into the United States by R.H. Shumway in 1893. Nutrition-wise, these squashes contain vitamins A and C, some B vitamins, calcium, iron, and fiber. Squash in general also has significant levels of folate, which has long been known as an essential vitamin for pregnant women. In fact, folic acid, or folate, is integral in developing the neural aspects of infant health. Besides, Banana squashes can weigh up to 16 kg, which is why they are usually sold in slices at markets as consumers can be intimidated and overwhelmed by its large size, which averages 60-91 centimeters in length and 18-22 centimeters in diameter! As for their orange flesh, it becomes fragrant, dry, rich, and earthy sweet when cooked.
