Developed and introduced to the market in 1991, Carnival squash contains potassium, vitamins A and C, calcium, magnesium, folate, omega-3 fatty acids, and omega-6 fatty acids. As a matter of fact, the magnesium and potassium present in this squash combine to form a very effective defense line against cardiovascular issues. Besides, Potassium relaxes the tension of blood vessels and arteries, thereby increasing blood flow and reducing the stress on the heart. Carnival squash is small to medium in size, not to mention that it is round and squat with deeply furrowed ridges and a rough, light brown stem. When cooked, it is soft and tender with a fragrant aroma and is slightly nutty, buttery, and sweet with hints of maple syrup, similar to butternut squash.
