Description

Discovered in 1925, the Moyer fruit is substantially large and generally oval and symmetrical, with a uniform blue to dark reddish blue coloration when fully ripe. While blueberries may be high on the antioxidant scale, prunes are surprisingly even higher! In addition, prunes contain manganese, iron and plant phenolics that function as antioxidants and help protect the cell membranes from free radical damage. Whether whole, chopped or puréed, adding prunes is a great way to boost nutritional value in recipes. They also contain natural elements which help heighten the flavors of other ingredients—whether it’s a dessert or something savory.
