Description

Discovered in 1870, the Imperial prune is a relatively old prune of French origin. This semi-free, oval fruit is usually somewhat larger than its French counterparts. Besides, its skin can vary from dark-red to purple-red. When it comes to nutritional benefits, prunes are high in potassium, an important mineral that ensures proper functioning of the heart and nerve response throughout the body. As a matter of fact, daily intake of potassium helps lower blood pressure and reduces the risk of problems such as dizziness, heart disease, heart attack and stroke.
