Japanese Kinkan is native to China and came to Japan sometime before 1784. As a matter of fact, these kumquats have a more rounded shape than other varieties along with a thick, smooth, oily peel that is aromatic and mildly sweet, and a tart flesh that contains a minimal amount of juice. Besides, they are rich in vitamin C, and contain high amounts of vitamins A, E and B-complex. The skin of these fruits is also rich in flavonoids, which in turn have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may help protect against heart disease and cancer
