Calamondin kumquat is an acid fruit that is most commonly grown in the Philippine Islands, although it is believed to be of Chinese origin. Of course, it shares the same characteristics of its counterparts – ie, the edible, sweet rind and the sour flesh. Nutritionally, these kumquats are rich in vitamin C, and contain high amounts of vitamins A, E and B-complex. Their skins are also a good source of fiber, pectin, and antioxidant flavonoids, like lutein and carotene. It is worth noting that the health benefits of kumquats include their ability to regulate digestion, boost the immune system, and improve skin, hair, dental, and eye care.
