Description

Although papayas in general are native to Mexico and South America, Tainung papaya is a variety that was originally developed in Taiwan. It is a large, football-shaped, elongated fruit with a green outer skin that turns yellow as the fruit matures. In addition, its inner flesh is pink-red in color, fragrant, and has a mango-like taste and texture. Among the numerous nutrients that Tainung papaya has, we mention vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, dietary fiber and carbohydrates. As a matter of fact, consuming the antioxidant beta-carotene, found in papayas, may reduce cancer risk among younger men.
