Meiwa kumquats are in fact a natural hybrid that was brought to Japan from China during the Meiwa period between 1764 and 1771. These kumquats are round in shape, and have a thick, aromatic peel that is high in volatile oils and offers a sweet flavor. Besides, these fruits are high in vitamin C, and contain good amounts of vitamins A, E and B-complex. They also contain antioxidant-rich flavonoids with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
