Originated in Portugal, Gamboa quince is actually sweeter than common quince. In fact, it has been used in Andalusia from time to make quince jam. It is still used as a jam to this day, though, (obviously!), because people can’t let something so sweet go unnoticed, now, can they? Aside from the many benefits this fruit offers, its juice is indeed very helpful in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, respiratory ailments, anemia, and asthma. Regular consumption can help in the treatment of tuberculosis, dysentery and hepatic insufficiency as well. Like all other fruits, Gamboa quince is also an effective addition to your regular diet, and because it is full of pectin, Gamboa is most often made into jam, jelly or marmalade.
