Created in California in the 1990s-2000s, Petite Red Watercress is small in size, and has wide, oval shaped leaves with many bright green veins branching across the surface. These leaves are actually crunchy with a peppery flavor, but are not overpowering as they also contain a mild, slightly bitter and spicy taste. When it comes to its nutritional profile, this variety contains some antioxidants, iron, potassium, vitamins A and C, calcium, and folic acid. Furthermore, watercress and other cruciferous vegetables contain glucosinolates which protect against cancer by safeguarding healthy cells from damage.
