Upland cress is native to Southwestern Europe and has been cultivated since the 17th century in England. This cress is small to medium in size, and grows in rosettes of rounded, flat leaves that have a peppery, pungent flavor that is similar, but stronger, than watercress. Nutrition-wise, Upland cress contains vitamins A, C, and K, vitamin B2, potassium, iron, folate, manganese, and calcium. As a matter of fact, watercress has many potential benefits for heart health, including lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Besides, diets high in cruciferous vegetables are linked to a lower risk of heart disease.
