Sterile Water for Irrigation contains water that is sterilized and packaged for use as an irrigant. Bear in mind that this fluid is used for irrigation only, and not for intravenous injection. Plus, it is not potable, nor is it intended for oral administration. Furthermore, sterile water for irrigation contains no bacteriostat, antimicrobial agent or added buffer. Basically, this fluid exerts a mechanical cleansing action for sterile irrigation of body cavities, tissues or wounds, indwelling urethral catheters and surgical drainage tubes. In addition, this mechanical cleansing action is applied for washing, rinsing or soaking surgical dressings, instruments and laboratory specimens. It also serves as a diluent or vehicle for drugs used for irrigation or other pharmaceutical preparations. It is worth noting that the following adverse reactions have been identified during post approval use of Sterile Water for Irrigation. However, it is not always possible to reliably estimate their frequency or establish a causal relationship to drug exposure. These adverse reactions may include nervous system disorders, renal and urinary disorders.
