Description

Apraclonidine, which is sold under the brand name “Lopidine”, decreases pressure inside the eye by reducing the amount of fluid in it. Before using this product, you should tell your doctor if you’ve ever had kidney/liver disease, or if you’ve ever been treated for diabetes, heart disease, or depression, because you need to make sure that Apraclonidine will be safe for you if you have any of the aforementioned medical conditions. You should also tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as it is still unknown whether the medicine in question could in any way harm the fetus or the nursing baby. According to drugs.com, “Apraclonidine ophthalmic is usually given as one to two drops in each affected eye, three times per day”. According to the same source, this medicine may actually become less effective over time, considering it is for short-term use only. As far as the common side effects are concerned, they include dry eyes, blurred vision, dry mouth, dizziness, and puffy eyelids. There are, however, other side effects that require immediate medical care such as severe itching in/around the eye, increased eye-watering, and drainage around the eye.
