Description

Sold worldwide under the brand name “Cancidas”, Caspofungin is an antifungal drug indicated for the treatment of fungal infections of the stomach, esophagus, lungs, or other internal body areas. This medication is actually used in patients who do not tolerate other antifungal drugs. Besides, Caspofungin basically “works by slowing the growth of fungi that cause infection”( medlineplus.gov). In order to make sure that this medication is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, or if you’ve ever had an allergic reaction to any drug, food...etc. And if you’re pregnant or plan a pregnancy, tell your doctor about that, too. It is worth noting that Caspofungin “is given as an infusion into a vein” (drugs.com). According to the same source, the common side effects of this medication include diarrhea, fever, chills, and dizziness. As for its serious side effects (i.e. the ones that require immediate medical help), they include liver problems, flu symptoms, low potassium, and swelling in hands and feet.
