Clorazepate, which was patented in 1965, is indicated for the treatment of anxiety disorders and insomnia. According to Wikipedia.com, this medication “may also be prescribed as an anticonvulsant or muscle relaxant”. It is worth noting that Clorazepate “belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines which act on the brain and nerves to produce a calming effect”. Besides, this drug “works by enhancing the effects of a certain natural chemical in the body (GABA).” Remember that you should not use Clorazepate if you are pregnant as it can cause birth defects. Additionally, one could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms when they suddenly stop using this medication. Before you take Clorazepate, make sure you tell your doctor if you’ve ever had suicidal thoughts, or if you have liver/kidney disease.
