Description

Sold under Invanz, Ertapenem is indicated for the treatment and prevention of a wide variety of bacterial infections (namely infections of the lungs, skin, pelvis, stomach, and urinary tract) by stopping the growth of bacteria. In order to make sure that Ertapenem is safe for you, you should let your doctor know if you have seizure disorder, kidney disease, or if you have a history of brain tumor. You also need to tell them if you are pregnant before using this drug, even though there is no evidence that Ertapenem causes harm to the fetus. The drug in question does, however, pass into breast milk. So, you should also tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. As far as the side effects are concerned, they include headache, nausea, vomiting, and a mild swelling at the site of injection (considering Ertapenem is typically injected into a muscle/vein through an IV). You must call your doctor immediately if you have any of the following side effects: muscle twitching, seizures, behavioral changes, and severe stomach cramps.
