Co-marketed under the trade name Levitra, Vardenafil is used for treating male sexual function problems (impotence or erectile dysfunction). In combination with sexual stimulation, Vardenafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help a man get and keep an erection. Beyond its indications for erectile dysfunction, Vardenafil may also be effective in the treatment of premature ejaculation, where it may significantly increase the time from penetration to ejaculation. It is worth noting that this medication causes nausea and, to a lesser degree, abdominal pain, back pain, photosensitivity, abnormal vision, eye pain, facial edema, hypotension, palpitation, tachycardia, arthralgia, myalgia, rash, itch, and priapism. One possibly serious, but rare, side effect is heart attack. Also, in rare cases, Vardenafil use may cause priapism, which is a very painful emergency condition that can cause impotence if left untreated. Make sure you take this medication as directed by your doctor, usually as needed. Bear in mind that you can take Vardenafil, with or without food, about one hour before sexual activity. Of course, you must not take more than once daily. Besides, doses should be taken at least 24 hours apart.
