Used to treat infertility in women, Urofollitropin is a man-made hormone that helps to develop eggs in the ovaries of women who have not been able to become pregnant because of problems with ovulation, and have already received a medicine to control their pituitary gland. Basically, Urofollitropin is a purified form of a hormone called follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which in turn is important in the development of eggs that are produced by the ovaries. Bear in mind that Urofollitropin alone will not cause ovulation. In fact, you will need to receive other medicines to stimulate ovulation. It is also worth noting that the presence of other medical problems may affect the use of urofollitropin. So, make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially abnormal or unusual vaginal bleeding, adrenal gland problems, breast tumor, or if you have breathing problems. Also make sure you get medical help if any of these side effects occur: upset stomach, headache, stomach cramps, or belly pain. Unfortunately, blood clots have happened with this drug. Sometimes, these blood clots have been deadly. Therefore, you must not hesitate to call your doctor right away if you have chest, arm, back, neck, or jaw pain or pressure, or if you start coughing up blood or feeling numbness on one side of your body. On a side note, you must not use urofollitropin if you are pregnant.
