The Marionberry is currently the most common blackberry cultivar, accounting for over half of all blackberries produced in Oregon. This variety looks very similar to common blackberries, but has a more elongated shape and is larger in size. Besides, it is said to have a superior flavor than other blackberry varieties, offering flavors of concentrated black cherry, bramble fruits and pine with a pleasant acidity and a lingering sweetness. This fruit is also high in antioxidants, vitamin A, calcium and fiber. In addition, marionberries are a great source of Vitamin C, which is vital in the regulation of immune system function, preventing inflammation and scouring the body for free radicals
