Blueberries

Though blueberries are native to America, it wasn’t until 1916 that they began their journey from farm to table thanks to the agricultural specialist Elizabeth White and American botanist Frank Coleville. These exquisite fruits obtain a catchy dark purple color along with a soft, hazy white coating when ripe. In addition, blueberries have a sweet and woodsy flavor with an acidity that can vary depending upon growing conditions. As a matter of fact, one of the many reasons why these berries are so popular is that they are packed with antioxidants, Vitamins C and K, manganese, copper and fiber. Furthermore, the antioxidants in blueberries have been shown to reduce a predominant risk factor for heart disease.
